The Thanksgiving celebration goes back to the 1600s when English explorers descended on North America Land near Massachusetts, looking for a new life. Their first winter was extremely hard. Only half of the newcomers survived, many were lost due to exposure, scurvy, and outbreaks of contagious diseases. The next spring, survivors started their farming season, and that Fall they harvested their first corn. They organized a celebratory feast, which became the first Thanksgiving celebrated in the US. It was in November of 1621.

Thanksgiving is a simple way of saying thank you to Mother Nature and to everyone who participated in the fight for survival and a better life. What does this celebration look like today? It is a bit different isn’t it? Not all of us live on farms and most people buy their corn at the grocery stores. Today Thanksgiving is a day when families get together and give thanks for the lives we have right now, for the opportunity to be close to family and friends, and for having food on our tables.

We all celebrate thanksgiving in our own ways; some getting together with friends, some with family, and some just staying at home and relaxing.

No matter what you do and who you celebrate thanksgiving with, we want to offer something from us. I hope it will make your October a little happier.
